On January 27th 2014 my dog whelped 11 puppies. During the whelping process she retained 6 placentas. This could potentially be deadly. I spoke with my mentor and was recommended to immediately get a dose of Oxytocin in her, which is used for this issue, it causes the dog to have a contraction to push anything remaining inside her. I could not get in touch with my regular Dr. so around 3pm on the 27th I called Lake City Animal Hospital. I told the receptionist the situation and that I needed a shot of Oxytocin. I was told to come right in, no need for an appointment. So I rushed to the clinic with my girl. Once I arrived I filled out the necessary paperwork, and to my surprise the receptionist came out and told me that and I quote, "Umm We don't actually have Oxytocin" so they sent me back to speak with the Vet (Toby G.
