Just this week and for the last 35 years we have taken our four schnauzers to this clinic and they have always been not so friendly at front desk, not people friendly but the vets have always been wonderful. We have had four schnauzers 3 of which we had to put to sleep. The vet doing this was the most caring and felt our pain. But I will have to say the owner Dr. Meadows whom I met for the first time this week, needs to learn people skills as a business man. He is probably a wonderful vet but takes the attitude that if you don't like the way I do things go someplace else. I would think after a customer patronizes your business for as long as we have, and maybe minor complaint we looked over, with legitimate complaint you would be overly friendly and know how to handle a customer that is very unhappy. His way of handling it is go some place else....That is arrogant. This is what happened:\r
We called about having Daisy groomed took her in at 9:00 am they said she will be ready at 5:00. My wife said we had an appointment at 5:00, well you can pick her up after your appointment. I did not know of this arrangement and when I got home at 4:00 I asked my wife to call to see if we could pick up since Daisy had been there all day. She called and they said they had not gotten to her yet, she will be ready at maybe 5:30. I called the clinic myself to find out whats going on since Daisy had been there for 8 Hours. I got the rude response from the front desk as described in some of these comments, so I asked for the owner Dr. Meadows. He came to the phone with a sounding arrogant attitude and told me the arrangements for Daisy and that's the way it is. I asked why you would have a plan to bring a dog in for grooming and keep for 8 hours before getting to it. I asked if we brought her in at 9:00 you mean you have already taken in a whole days worth before we came? I told him that was not a good schedule planning and most places and friends that groom dogs elsewhere its 2 to 3 hours at most. He said if you want the pet earlier come earlier, he said she would be ready as agreed. I went there at a little before 5:00 and they were working on her. He came out to tell me personally and didn't offer and kind comments or anything but ""we will get her records printed for you and you can take your pet elsewhere."" That's what they taught him in Vet school I guess. I told him that was fine. They brought me Daisy and he said he would comp the charges and we are finished. I'm sure when someone starting a practice has a much different attitude, but I think Dr. Meadows thinks he has plenty of business that losing one doesn't matter. Our family and extended family, and my customers over the years in Charlotte are over one million, face book, twitter, internet and I have a grandson that has over 5 million followers on internet and has had write ups in Observer many times and been on national TV several times. So I guess the word could get out good or bad. I would like to end in saying that the vets we have dealt with at Matthews Animal Clinic including Dr. Meadows have been wonderful with the pets, but in business and customer relations Dr. Meadows is terrible and arrogant.
