Avoid Top Computers unless you like excuses, being lied to, being insulted, being taken for a ride and paying more and waiting longer than the original quote or walking away with a computer in worse condition that you started with. They are a bait and switch company. The extent of the price difference will be dependent on what profit they want to extract from you, or worse yet, to cover the cost of the additional damage they may do to your computer due to their own incompetence.\r

I previously used Top Computers on 2/22/13 to fix a short in an HP Pavilion dm4 laptop screen. They claimed that the whole LCD screen had to be replaced in order to fix the short and gave me an acceptable estimate of $125. The initial estimate then increased to a quote of $180 ($85 - Parts & $95 - Labor) once I made a deposit and they identified and sourced the part. Wasn't thrilled but accepted the quote and the job was complete within 5 days. Overall, I was happy with everything except the price.\r

On 12/4/13 I decided to go back to Top Computers to fix a malfunctioning lid hinge because they already knew me and the computer, I believed the problem to be well defined and expected an easy and inexpensive solution, especially for a repeat customer. Based on my previous experience and this being an optional repair, I insisted on an actual quote before providing a deposit.\r
\r
At $110, the quote ended up being $25 to $45 higher the verbal estimates they gave me 1 hour earlier, but I was fine with it because it also included a unexpected new lid/top cover which they claim was required in order to purchase HP hinges/bracket sets. I didn't buy the explanation, but I was willing to pay $110 to have the hinge working and a laptop looking like new.\r
\r
I explain that I can not do without the computer for more than a day, so call me when the part gets in and you are actually ready to work on it. Well the part came it over a week later than""promised"" and then they took 3 days to get to the computer despite daily calls from me and excuse after excuse from them. They do not realize they have the wrong part until they have disassembled my laptop. Naturally, they blame the vendor, say they will reorder and attempt unsuccessfully to reassemble my laptop so I can take it home in the interim. I end up leaving on 12/21/13 with a laptop with no LCD screen, that can only be used by connecting to an external monitor and no estimate about when I can expect the job to be completed.\r
\r
Over a week later Top Computers finally calls me to say they have sourced the correct part, they will eat the cost of S/H for the wrong part and my new quote is $394 ($249 - Parts & $145 - Labor). \r

To cut an even longer story short, I told them to forget it and make me whole by returning my computer to its original condition and refund my $65 deposit. I bring the computer back in on 12/31/13 and return to pick it up on 1/4/14. Eran Goldstein was extremely rude, refused to refund my deposit. They were unable to return my computer as received because they broke the area of the lid that attaches to the hinge and then to top it off, they accidentally broke the LCD screen too. See attached pictures. They offered to replace the broken LCD screen, but 30 days of excuses, incompetence, rudeness, and mess-ups was more than enough for me. \r

I'm taking my abused laptop somewhere else. Stay far away.
