Editorial review from Citysearch 9/26/2013

I’ve been a member of this gym for several months with no issues until there was a simple billing issue (i.e., change of credit card) that quickly turned into an unpleasant and borderline violent exchange with the gym’s manager, Ty. \r \r The underlying issue wasn’t really a problem; it was how Ty (mis)handled it. I explained to him the problems I had in resolving the issue with his staff. He was visibly annoyed with me but offered to resolve the issue in a passive aggressive tone. \r \r His attitude didn’t bother me but then he extended his hand for a handshake to conclude our discussion. After I attempted to disengage from his testosterone-induced handshake, his passive aggression upgraded to aggressive aggression as he squeezed down harder on my hand, pulled me closer to him and demanded my name in an authoritative manner. \r \r His alpha body language suggested he wasn’t going to end his hand-mangling until I complied with his demand; conduct that amounted to battery. I was taken aback by the whole exchange, which seemed more like an interaction with a bouncer or law enforcement authority than with a customer service representative.\r \r Perhaps Gold’s Gym should hire staff that is more experienced using their “think” meat instead of their other muscles… or at least cut back on the ‘roids. \r more
