We called in Consumer Electric Inc. because there was odd behavior in one of our electrical circuits. Although I'm an engineer, I was unable to troubleshoot a problem like this myself! Consumer Electric did find a serious problem that had occurred in our ceiling. They explained this problem to us, I agreed to the work, and they corrected it.
