We recently used California-NY Express to move from NJ to CA. We had 3 different companies come out to our apartment to give an estimate (I recommend doing this--if they tell you they can give an estimate over the phone, be wary because they won't guarantee that price--when they come out the day of the move they can say you have more stuff than initially thought). Anyway, my company was paying for our move, so cost was less of an issue for us, but CA-NY Express definitely quoted us the cheapest price for the move. At first I didn't want to go with them bc it was the cheapest quote and also the smaller company of the 3 on BBB. I wanted to go with a different company (the one whose trucks are all over the highway), however the rep from that company was really shady-- sort of a used car salesman type and took a long time to get me a quote. Noel Naughton from CA-NY express got me a quote within the same day. He was also very responsive to all of my questions/calls via both cell phone and email. (For example, after he already did the estimate, we bought a big, heavy crib for our baby so I called him up and he was able to add that to the quote immediately). In the end I went with CA-NY express based on a gut feeling that if the estimator was that much more professional and consistent, hopefully the rest of the experience would be that way. \r

Noel thought our move was a 2-day job so on the first day, a crew of 4 guys arrived first thing in the AM. They packed up most of the house but left the bedroom so we could sleep there that night. The head mover told us that they were able to be so efficient because we were pretty organized. We already had our suitcases packed that we wanted to take with us on the plane, and had them in a corner labeled ""DO NOT LOAD."" We sort of just stayed out of their way. The 2nd day, again they arrived early, packed the bedroom and loaded everything on to the truck. They were done in less than 4 hours on the 2nd day, I was super impressed. They made us sign off on all the boxes and let us pay the majority by credit card. Also, I have to note, that the apt felt really clean after they left. They definitely tidied up after themselves. \r

After the truck left, we got an email every business day updating us on the truck's location. It actually beat us to California because we took a couple pit stops to visit family. \r

Once we got to California, our stuff all went into a storage facility while we looked for a new apt in the Bay Area (1 month free storage was included). Once we found our apt and knew our move-in day, we contacted CA-NY express and booked a delivery day a few days in advance. They came the scheduled day and brought everything into the house (you stand there with a checklist of all the boxes, and as each box is unloaded, you check it off on the list). They unpacked everything, I stuck around to kind of direct them where furniture should go etc, and then took all of the empty boxes with them, which was incredible bc the house felt pretty neat and put together by the end of the day. The balance was paid in cash. Everything was pretty much in tact except for the back of one of those crappy ikea book shelves had a little crack in it. But all of our nicer furniture was perfect without a scratch. \r

One little pointer was that we had to buy additional insurance as this company doesn't offer the extra insurance through them. Noel instructed us which companies to get quotes from, and we went with the cheapest one, but we will not be needing to file a claim, which is a great feeling!! :) \r

Another great thing was that the quote from Noel was a guaranteed quote, so even though in the end we had slightly more cubic feet than estimated, it still cost the original price. If I ever have to move again I'm definitely hiring a moving company. Having them pack and unpack everything totally saved my sanity!\r
