We have gone to Marv & Mike's for a couple of years and have always been impressed with their professionalism and skill. Before leaving for a July 4th road trip, we took our car in for maintenance and a quick inspection. Work was completed in a timely manner and the car was ready close to closing time. I picked it up and drove home and then to the grocery store - about 6 miles total. We then noticed the temperature gauge showed our engine to be dangerously hot. We called and spoke to the receptionist who denied responsibility and said they wouldn't be able to look at the car until Monday - 5 days after our vacation was to start. This would have meant no vacation, a loss in deposits, and huge disappointment! The receptionist called us back with a different shop to try on Friday - 2 days after our vacation was to begin. We called immediately - with the long-shot hopes they could help us at 6:30 on July 3rd. They could! In 10 minutes the radiator fan was reconnected and our much anticipated vacation was back on!
The failure to reconnect the radiator fan was an amateurish mistake. It could have really caused great damage to our car. We were fortunate to catch the error on our own and get the car to another shop to get it fixed. We understand mistakes are sometimes made - but the way a business corrects mistakes says A LOT. Denial of responsibility and refusal to help is unprofessional and extremely poor customer service.
Given our previous record with Marv and Mike's, we want to give them the benefit of the doubt. It is our hope that the management decides they want to keep us as customers and reaches out to us with an apology (at least) and information about how we can make sure such automotive and customer service mistakes are not repeated.
