We first hired Handyman Matters to fix a patio french door that had a piece of rotted wood at the bottom. Chris, the owner, came to take a look at it. We consulted with the manufacturer who advised against cutting out the wood because it was a structural necessity. We ended up replacing the whole door and got a new one that was better than the previous one.
Chris ended up repairing several other doors in our house for free. But what really impressed me is when we pointed out a few other things in the house we needed fixed, he told us they would cost too much to fix. Instead, he suggested simple fixes we could do ourselves. He ended up saving us money.
