After previously adopting a shepherd mix and having to bring it back to the shelter a few days later because of aggression issues, I decided I wanted to get a younger dog that I could make sure was well socialized. My nieces and nephews are often over my house with my sister and they're still very small. \r She suggested I go to American Breeders where she got her own dog and had bought our mother a shih-tzu last Christmas. At first I was a bit wary because of the things I've heard about pet shops but I went anyway. When I pulled up there was an kid walking a German Shepherd outside. This is not the dog I got. When I went in to look around I talked to the woman that was working and told her what happened with the other dog. Although she didn't outright say she wouldn't sell me the Shepherd that was outside she did suggest that I shouldn't go for a herding dog if I do have little kids running around and don't want to worry about nipping, which is a natural instinct for them.
