I very much appreciated the manner and attentiveness that the doctors and clinical staff at MHNI's inpatient unit consistently displayed. They took into account myriad issues and problems that might be contributing to my headache and discomfort-including issues my doctors at home had overlooked or brushed off- instead of only looking at one or two factors. The nurses and other staff were very friendly and comforting and helped put me at ease when I was suffering from a worse headache or having other pain or discomfort. The physicians assistants managing my case were both attentive and careful listeners who reliably reported my concerns in rounds to Dr. Saper. Dr. Saper is remarkable for not only being a brilliant diagnostician and clinician, but having a terrific bedside manner-he manages to cheer you up and reassure you while also being realistic about your prospects and what you can reasonably expect. MHNI takes the 'whole body/while person' approach seriously and provided lots of tools and strategies to help make useful lifestyle changes. The patient education sessions about the pathways of pain and comorbidity were especially welcome and interesting. With only a couple minor exceptions, I felt like I was in great hands. KB
