I keep going back hoping for one day to have a meal like everyday during the 80's and 90's when the old man was there everyday at the register with a genuine heartfelt ""HELLO HOW ARE YOU AND A GENUINE SMILE"" his food then was amazing everyday no matter what you ordered from hombre pobre to a fresh sea bass or filet or his famous black beans and rice garbanzos Now the only guarantee when you go there is the $7 Cuban which the son has managed not to screw up !!! Hopefully the new generation manager which is very pleasant ""Julie"" will make some necessary changes in the kitchen and make the old man proud again. The staff although always changing except for Mary Beth is very nice but until the kitchen staff is overhauled I can not recommend Hugo's. I use to love going there and now unless im in the mood for a pressed cuban I just go down the street on Howard Ave. to one of the many other fresher better quality establishments.
