Dr suggested that I have a bronchoscope. All of the lung specialists that I seen has diagnosed me incurable COPD. I became diabetic type 2 in 2003. My a1c varied between 6.2 to 6.5 normally. My wife and I moved to Las Cruces, NM two years ago. I began having my usual pulmonary problems. Asthma, pneumonia, severe coughing spells.I met with pulmonary doctor who insisted that I had COPD - nothing could be done - prescribed an inhaler of which I had over the years accumulated most all of the available inhalers. My primary physician contacted another pulmonary doctor and insisted that I have a bronc. A bronchoscope was performed the speciman was sent to the New Mexico state laboratory and it was found that I had Nocardiosis ( a long latent nopn-contagious bacterial infection). Which can lead to death.I'm now on bactrim DS. My diabetes a1c went from 6.2 to 4.7 in one week. Indicating that the bacteria had spread to my pancreas. A brain scan was performed to ensure that the bacteria had not spread to that part of my body. Bacteria in the brain is not good.At anyrate when most doctors would have just continuously prescribed cough medicines and steroid shots . Dr strongly suggested a Bronchoscope. He is an extremely capable doctor. Great bedside manner, and good diagnostician. I truly wish I had someone of his caliber here in Las Cruces, NM.\r more
