My car was hit and the driver of the other vehicle had Nationwide insurance so their insurance was covering the cost. I received a check from Nationwide to have the car repaired. I believe the amount of the check was way more than what it should cost for the repairs.\r \r Johnson’s Body Shop gave me an estimate way below the value of the check but then they asked how much did Nationwide give me? and so after the repairs they asked for the entire check to the penny and I immediately thought they were just going to take the full amount I was given regardless of what the actual total to repair the car was.\r \r I went to pick up the car and noticed instead of replacing parts they polished them to from my reasoning get the most value out of the check I had received. I demanded them to replace the parts and they told me no problem because Nationwide will pay.\r \r The entire thing just did not sit well with me the check from Nationwide was almost $2,000 for like a $1,200 repair and the body shop asked me to sign over the entire check. I asked them that if you ask for the entire check then obviously the repair cost had to go over the amount right? I just received a smirk and a yeah it was more.\r \r I feel as if the repairs cost no where near the amount they asked and oh I forgot to mention all parts replaced were alternative parts! Or another word CHEAP. I really just wanted to get my car back and be done with the whole thing. I understand that a business needs to make a profit but I feel as if they not only made a lot of money from the Nationwide check, but they made even more when they billed Nationwide for the parts I demanded fixed.\r \r Any business obviously will do what it can to save money, but should they be cutting corners when repairing your car? more
