This car shop is HORRIBLE!! They take advantage of people and rip them off. Even the comments on this page are FAKE! If you notice, you'll see all the comments were written by one person because they all sound the same, they were posted on the same date and gave the shop 4 or 5 stars (I am a linguist so I always spot a writer's style-- I am 100% sure they are from one writer). If you want to know how their service is, please listen to my story and NEVER take your car to the shop!\r \r At first, I got a coupon from Rover Town (a coupon provider for college students) for an oil change of only $20. I brought my car there and got an oil change for a cheap price compared to $26 at Walmart. I was very pleased because the guy seemed nice (it was my first time there so they tried to be nice). And then the guy told me there was something wrong with my car as it didn't run smooth. He recommended a check-up and it cost me less than $50 for it.\r \r After a month I found out there was really something wrong because I heard something rattling. So I trusted them and brought my car there again. I told him I knew nothing about cars and asked him to check to see what's wrong. It cost me some amount of money for it too. He said he didn't charge me for labor but just the part replacement. I thought he was very nice and wanted to come back as they know a little bit about my car situation.\r \r And after that second time, I had to bring my car back to them again and again. I was tired of the car and I thought it was too old (Mazda 2000). I kept wondering why it had gone worse and worse even though I rarely had to get it fixed.\r \r And 3 weeks ago, I took it to Brad's Auto for a checkup before the new semester began. The guy said the timing belt went bad and it cracked so bad. The water pumped and driving belts needed to be replaced also. They charged me over $500 for replacing these which is way too much. I asked some other car shops for an estimate and they said it wouldn't exceed $400. When I got the car back after the service, I felt the car really shaking but it was late so I just went home and planned to make another appointment to check it after. But it was the weekend and they didn't work so I had to wait until Monday. Some things came up and I was really busy in that week so I waited for a week for the check-up. During the wait, I happened to open the hood to clean the car then I found out the coolant was completely empty. That's why the car was so hot after running for a while on the road. I was wondering why they didn't fill it up for me when they changed the stuff the last time. I had to buy a bottle of antifreeze to fill it up. I still had no idea what went wrong... \r \r (This website limits characters in a review so please see this link below for the full review: http://www.yellowpages.com/carbondale-il/mip/brads-auto-shop-5630322?lid=5630322) more
