I was seen by Dr. Brooks at their Douglasville office. The wait time to get to the back was not long and the front office staff was pleasant enough. After being put in a room, it was a long time before Dr. Brooks came in, I assume after viewing a week old x-ray. He asked if I had insurance. I said no. He said that if I did he would have put me in a walking boot, then walked out of the room. A nurse followed with two ace bandages and the piece of white stuff they use at the hospital to make a splint. I felt very like they did not care at all that I was in need of treatment. I received my bill only a few days later, even before the ER bill and was shocked to find it nearly $300 after they deducted the $150 I gave them when I went for the visit. I called and left a message with Angela, Dr. Brooks' account manager. She called back the next day to tell me that the bill was accurate and that no adjustments would be made. These people do NOT care about their patients, only about their pocketbooks! At least people with insurance are given a discount, but because I cannot afford insurance, I was treated like a low class citizen and I refuse to allow this to go unanswered! The doctor never even looked at my ankle, only told me that I had a lateral malleus fracture; I had to research to find out what that was.
