Called CLA due to belt squeak and then no start with 5-speed Maxima.Phone conversation went well and decided to have car towed to shop.(FstFwd)Per return call from Gary, testing ""revealed"" car needs new starter, starter relay, and inhibitor relay.Stated he was unable to get car cranked(umm..yeah!)and needed it to be running to perform any other tests.I suggested popping the clutch on the phone and his response to that was,yeah/maybe you could.Minus company contracted tow charge of $87,repair quote was for $490.Notified Gary that I would be towing it back home(addtl $85 w/diff service). At pick up($140 for tow/labor),I had some ?'s and Gary kept saying he can't do anything unless the car's running(once again...umm yeah).Suggested popping the clutch again and same response, yeah you could.Made to feel more like an imposer than a customer. My tow driver asked what was wrong with the car and he suggested, you guessed it!,pop the clutch.I was like EXACTLY!Which he did,and it started.Still wouldn't crank after shut-off.Had referred mobile mechanic come and problem was diagnosed in 30 min.Including pick up time for needed part(IGNITION SWITCH),and install, total time was 1hr 30 mins for a total of $115!WOW!Fired right up.Who knows, maybe a bad week for CLA,but a great aversion by me.Thank Heavens for a tow truck driver and a trusty mobile mechanic!Wish I had found the mob mech earlier and could have saved over $220 and at least 3 days of car rental fees!Needless to say, no referral here. more
