We also recently adopted a new puppy from a rescue organization and were sent to Vista to have her spayed as an appt had already been made and was part of the adoption fee. While there, I asked them to also microchip her for which I had no problem paying an additional fee. Three days later the puppy had an apricot sized lump on her back. We immediately took her in to our own vet who advised us that it was an abscess infection at the site of the microchip insertion probably due to some unsanitary practice. Luckily, medications have dealt with the problem and our extra cost was only $117 as surgery would have been a $500 bill. The shelter will assume no responsibility and neither will Vista as they claim it could have happened anywhere. Really? Do your pet a favor and go elsewhere
