It's one thing to see great deals from 6/6/2012

It's one thing to see great deals from businesses these days; the problem is that those deals are rarely what they appear, and most the time you're left with feelings of disappointment and annoyance that you didn't quite get what you thought you were getting. This usually occurs after you've committed. You only find out later, that through some sort of fine print, or details that were not previously covered that you actually have to pay more, wait longer, etc. What blows me away about $300 Data Recovery is they exceeded expectations for everything; no hidden fees, no excuses, and faster service than promised, which were already, fast to begin with. I work for a small printing company and when my boss' hard drive for her Mac book pro died, it took all of her emails, accounting information, and company documentation with it. She was in a tough spot. She had not backed up any information for about 4 months and had a minimal paper trail to follow. She took it into a Mac Mall and had a new hard drive installed and was then about to give them her hard drive for data recovery. They told her it would take 4-6 weeks and they were asking for $1300 just to open and look at it in a clean room, in other words other charges could be pending. When I heard this I asked her to let me look into another company that offered a much less expensive, non clean room option that I had heard of through friends: $300 Data Recovery She was hesitant at first, going with a company she was unfamiliar with, and had a few questions; (mainly how much, how long, and probability of success). I called and was told that it cost $300, and only if they actually recovered my data, no attempt fees. However they did offer a priority service fee of $100 up front, and another $100 charged if the recovery was successful, ($500 total for expedited service). On top of that when I mentioned the price that Mac Mall offered to send the drive to a clean room, I was told that if there recovery was not successful, they could refer me to a different clean room that would work on the hard drive more quickly and less expensively than the Mac Mall offer. Needless to say both my boss and I were sold, and since every day without the data on the hard drive was costly we opted for expedited service. All we needed now was to see some follow through, and they certainly performed as advertised. I went to drop the drive off later in the evening that same day. I actually arrived after they were closed (Traffic in LA). Fortunately someone was still there, and they let me in, took the drive, had me fill out a form listing the priority info on the drive, and told me they would get started on it in the morning. They let me know it would most likely only take a few days to recover. The next day I received multiple updates about the progress of my drive recovery with the last one telling me I could pick up my %100 recovered hard drive that day if I arrived there before 7pm! I saved my boss at least $1,000, not to mention multiple weeks of time without critical information for her business, and they did it all in a SINGLE day! To me there is nothing better than when a business is completely straight forward with you, gives you an estimated time and price, then goes ahead and out performs themselves. That is a sign of a business that not only knows their craft, but understands how to provide service; and that can be a rarity these days. more
