BEWARE! Don't go there!
In December 2012, I called Helms because my 12 mo.old Carrier heat pump was running constatntly. 2-5min off every 3-4 hrs in heating to 68o..now, in June: 2-4 min off per hr with A/C and I can't get my house temp below 76o! The techs have been out many, many times over the last 6 months, replacing several things. The whole unit should have been replaced after the first 8 service calls but they've played around for 6 months!!! Glad I bought the extended warrenty.
Something needs to be done. Its gone on too long.
Its still short cycling but when I pressed for a replacement, they say, if it heats and cools, there's nothing wrong with my unit! Its not unusual for a unit to run up to 20 hours a day when its 35o! Talk about fuel effecient!!!! I don't like what it does to my Duke bills. Dreading July's bill already.
The only good thing I have to say is techs are always nice and polite. That doesn't negate the fact that they can't fix my unit.
I have contacted Carrier. To date, 6/26/2012, I haven't heard from them.
My 11 y/o Trane, with holes in the coil, worked better than this new Carrier.
I'm so sorry I ever bought a Carrier and equally sorry I ever dealt with Helm's.
