These folks installed all the floors in our house and when the underlayment failed under the vinyl kitchen floor due to improper installation(admitedly). One option that was mentioned was to simply go over the existing vinyl with new vinyl which I was not too keen on. We agreed that the vinyl would be removed and replaced with new vinyl after fixing the underlayment.
