Me and my boyfriend were looking for a place to move out to for the first time, as we have a baby on the way. We called smart choice and asked to view the place and they were very friendly about it and had no problem getting back to us right away about it. We viewed the apartment complex and the woman showing it to us said it was a very quiet complex, very nice. As we walked through the apartment nothing seemed to pop out that was a problem, there was a dishwasher included, and there was a washer and dryer unit right outside of our door, so we thought great!! this is perfect! One thing i did request was that a light fixture be put on one of the lights in the hallway as the woman was showing the place. She acted like it was no problem, took a picture of the light with no light fixture, and said it would be fixed by the time we moved in. We moved in to the apartment, and after a week or so we can to the realization, that it is NOT quiet at all. People across from us, and above us are very loud, and they are out of control. We wrote them emails saying other tenants were loud and would like the noise to stay down a little bit more as they said it was a quiet complex. Nothing was done about this, the email and request was ignored. The dishwasher in our apartment was not up to parr as well, we did not complain about that though we decided to let that go, as we were being ignored anyways. A couple of months ago the loud tenants upstairs over flowed thier toilet and kept flushing it and water built up in thier bathroom and all of the water came pouring down into our bathroom and our hallway through the vents, light fixtures, cracks, etc. We told them about it and they did actually come out and look at the bathroom, literally just looked at it, Didn't examine inside the walls didnt do much else and declared no damage was done. not even a day later, the light switch in the bathroom started shocking us when we would turn it on or off so we kept it off for awhile, assuming it was water in the walls, we waited for it to dry up but it never did and it continued to shock us. We did call them and let them know and fortunately they did come and change the light switch. Not long after that the floor started molding and peeling up, small water bugs started showing up every where and other kinds of bugs im not sure what they are. We did find a few giant ones as well (about the size of a quarter and then some) This was unexceptable as I have a child on the way, and i do not want bugs crawling all over. We sent 3 emails, and gave them a call twice, and still nothing was done. There was also a bees nest right outside of the door, and the washer and dryer were broken with no out of order sign. I included all of these problems in all of the emails and the calls. FINALLY I was fed UP with being ignored, as my due date is coming up quickly and i wanted these things taken care of before the baby got here, We emailed the person who was in charge of smart choice properties, explained what was going on, and they finally came out to spray for bugs just today after about a month of complaints. The dryer still does not work and many of the other things i complained about. I WOULD NOT SUGGEST LIVING HERE ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A CLEAN QUIET INDIVIDUAL.. and ESPECIALLY IF YOU HAVE CHILDREN OR A CHILD ON THE WAY. I still am living here as my lease does not end for a good while unfortunately but for the sake of anyone else DO NOT RENT ANYYYYY PROPERTY FROM THEM.
