I am very pleased to have met Bernard Henderson who is indeed a very fine furniture artisan. To Mr. Henderson's shop at 150 Green Lane I brought the six bumper rails from my recently aquired 1904 Balke, Brunswick, Collender billiard table which, after 108 years of wear and tear by, well, let's just say, enthusiastic pool players, was in sore need of loving attention. Numerous, nicks, cracks, dents, improper repairs and sun bleached areas of the Brazilian Rose Wood tops of the rails were expertly repaired, color matched, and refinished by Mr. Henderson, as well as similar repairs to the quarter sawn Red Oak sides. In addition Mr. Henderson was able to replace the 16 Ivory inlayed diamond sights missing from the Rose Wood tops, all of which had apparently been removed by one of the enthusiastic gentlemen mentioned above, perhaps to settle a gambling debt. The inlay work Bernard performed is beautiful and I could not be more happy with the results of Mr. Henderson's craftmanship. He is presently working on the remaining parts of this rather large 5' X 10' pool table. I'm sure you will be well pleased with his work on your cherished heirloom or other favored furniture item.
