I am a medical doctor practicing family medicine. I would love to have alternatives to mainstream medicine for many reasons. In my field, we maintain chronic diseases that could be fixed with homeopathic medicines. I will give an example in the next paragraph relating to my daughter, but also conditions like GERD, inflammatory conditions, and many more can be cured. Treatments in my field often cause secondary problems, such as GERD medicines like Prilosec OTC. They commonly cause vitamin deficiencies, upper and lower respiratory infections, and can lead to osteoporosis. Statins, like Lipitor,a very popular cholesterol lowering medicine, can cause testosterone deficiency, memory loss, and now has been found to increase risk of diabetes. We often have to treat the side effect of the chronic medicines we give like giving ulcer meds while giving steroids to prevent bleeding ulcers. We are pushed to see patients every 15 minutes which precludes education on dietary changes or alternative treatments that would reduce the need for prescription medicines. There is a snow ball effect and increases the cost of health care. I can seriously give many more examples. \r \r My daughter Sofia was given the possible diagnosis of an incurable autoimmune disease by her pediatrician. She is an excellent physician and she let us know that as symptoms continue to confirm the diagnosis, she would send us to a rheumatologist and would likely need a lifetime of steroids. Well, those lifetime of steroids will cause obesity, osteoporosis, ulcers, depression, and adrenal gland failure. Therefore, we promptly saw Dr. Michael Smith of Carolinas Natural Health and we are watching her get better. It is amazing to me. Sofia was also referred to an ENT due to effusions in her ears and the specialist was going to place tubes. Dr. Smith told me to stop giving her dairy and within a week, her effusions and eczema cleared up. My oldest child was suffering from worsening snoring and bad breath issues, likely leading to needing a tonsillectomy. Again, Dr. Smith instructed me to stop dairy and within a week, her breath returned to normal and she stopped snoring. He saved both of my daughters from unnecessary surgeries that occur regularly due to the lack of nutritional education of MD’s. \r \r more
