Bob Sumerel really cares, but his employees sure don't! 3/2/2012

I took my car there for an alignment after installing a new steering rack along with inner and outer tie rod ends. The parts were all brand new and had about 5 miles on them at the time. After the alignment, I noticed the car was pulling right as well as the steering wheel was slightly off center. When I got home I checked the air pressure in all four tires as well as swapped tires front to rear (the tires are directional so can't be swapped side to side). After removing the front wheels I noticed my brand new tie rod boots were twisted up into an unrecognizable mess. I was able to remove the clamp on the passenger side and straighten it out reasonably well but the driver side was another matter as it was ripped into two pieces from the excessive twisting. Luckily I still had the old boots and even though they were 9 years old were still servicable so I removed the left outer tie rod, pulled the damaged boot and installed the old one (only after I filed down the jagged edges on the inner tie rod left from a sloppy mechanic who didn't want to take the time to get the proper sized wrench to fit the hex sided rod thoughtfully provided by the manufacturer for just that purpose). I did call the store and told them it was pulling and they told me to bring it back the next day but after thinking it over I decided I didn't want them ever touching any of my vehicles ever again. So, in the end I will be getting a second alignment from a more skilled shop and they damaged what were essentially brand new parts. Buyer beware. If possible I would have given a -5 stars on this one and I'm not normally prone to writing long winded reviews but in this case it's warranted. more
