False advertising resulting in a theft 3/9/2012

This company advertised that they do background checks, are bonded and insured. They put a caregiver in our home who had served time for elder abuse and theft. Needless to say, the caregiver stole, dissappeared at night (was supposed to be 24 hours) and is now in jail. We have asked for recompense......they don't seem to think they're responsible. But they did admit that they did not do a background check before placing her in our home. I strongly advise you look elsewhere for care and ask to see the background check on anyone placed in your home. Also, make a call to the bonding and insuring company to make sure that person is covered against theft and abuse. We trusted these people because they were recommended by the hospital! We're out $150,000 in cash, jewelry (that was in a safe!), conferfeit and forged checks, sterling silver flatware and credit card use. more
