Our lab had a serious hematoma of the ear and Dr. Sinclair offered to perform surgery immediately, which was greatly appreciated. What was not appreciated was there was never any discussion about the cost involved and the bill was more than $500. We returned several days later because the bandages had come loose and the doctor indicated she had not stitched the ear enough and itwas filling with fluid again. She performed an additional surgery and we paid an additional $125. My concern is in the medical professional, these types of billing practices are illegal, as they should be. Billing for rechecks every time someone returns to the office as a followup to surgery is illegal in the medical profession because there is an expectation the fee for the surgery includes the followup. Where is the consumer protection when it comes to vet charges?
