I haven't had much experience in the world of Crossfit only about a month and half, but this was a great box with a great coach and members. I had visited this particular box on a saturday when i thought we were doing a strength WOD. So low Rep high weight for olympic lifts. But this was the first time that they had put it on and weren't sure how many and the type of members they were going to get. Needless to say too many showed up and the work out was switched up to a more normal WOD of a for time, back squat with rope climb. Everybody was excited to get into it to say the least and it was a great day.
This box has many little features which i thought were great. One was Multiple tall ropes of about 18-20 feet maybe more. the box which i work out at has short ceilings and no room for a rope so this was awesome for me to try out, definitely be back to to do some more.
another was the standard white board set up around the gym but they had spots where members could write down goals and records and track progress and so they could compare to others which could help keep a competitive edge so they could constantly try and improve.
lastly that might be pretty standard around other boxes but im not sure, but was an emphasis on the bergner warm up with the bar or pvc. I think this movement is incredibly important for beginners and novices to cross fit and olympic lifts to do everyday when they go in to get familiar with the movement and in grain in muscle memory in order to correctly and safely lift heavier weight.
If you want to work hard be patient and stow your pride and arrogance for awhile and go with the learning curve of crossfit, than this is a great place to work out.
The coach was also incredibly welcoming and invited me back any time which i plan to do. Respect the boxes and they respect you.
