This place is great family fun if you have young children. It is a little pricey, but I figure it's a special outing once (or twice if you go for Christmas) a year. There is plenty to do for a couple of hours - check out their website. We've only paid extra for the train, which our kids enjoy immensely. Everyone who works there is extremely friendly. We usually try to go early in the fall season to avoid some of the larger crowds we've encountered on weekends closer to Halloween. I was told be an employee the weekdays in the afternoon (after the school field trips have left) and the weekend before Halloween when most churches have activities aren't as busy if you want to go closer to October 31st.
