dr. gould was recommended to me by someone for mercury filling removal. he did a good job the first time around on the left side of my mouth. the second time i went in, he spent the entire time gossiping with his nurse about someone else in the office who was having lunch with her boyfriend instead of going out with them. i'm not too wimpy about needles but as he began numbing my gums he became more and more agitatated/animated about this girl who was not coming to lunch. i felt a painful shock go through my tongue and i grabbed his forearm. he assured me that this kind of a shock happens ALL the time, it's normal, blahblahblah. my tongue was numb for five months.\r

i'm an idiot for going back to this guy but i had to have a an emergency root canal (dr. bradley seto is THE MAN for root canal -- it's all he does, btw -- so gentle, precise, and professional --less painful than a filling!) and needed a crown on the aforementioned tooth. dr. gould suggested bleaching my teeth in addition to installing a crown. well, i don't know why, but he put the crown in BEFORE bleaching my teeth. the tooth looked like a chick-let. he said it would look great once my teeth were bleached. it didn't. it was opaque and thicker than the rest of my teeth (sticks out in the back which makes me run my tongue over it every day). the tooth is so obviously fake bleaching has never matched my real teeth to this ""tooth"". i called dr. gould repeatedly to complain -- he called me TWO WEEKS LATER apologizing -- his reason for not calling sooner? he would like to have some ""semblance of a personal life""...um, what? if i called a client two weeks after they called me with a concern i wouldn't have a job! he also said he would send more bleaching syringes -- never got anything.\r

bottom line: if you don't mind a dentist who wants to spend the entire time gossiping with his nurse instead of focusing on you and your teeth, dr. gould is your guy. if you want a dentist who makes excuses for bad work and careless communication -- dr. joel gould. i wouldn't give ANY stars here but i'm not given that option...
