I adopted my sweet dog who they said was 2 years old. I went to my first vet appointment and said she looks older then she is. I went to another vet and she said she was 5-8 years old. I am very shocked to find this out and still am. I believe that someone who has opened up a dog shelter would have more experience in guessing the dogs age. Even myself who doesn't have too much experience with dogs, starting wondering about her age because I started doing research and I noticed signs about my dog. Her eyes have some cloudiness and her teeth have some wear to them. She also isn't as active as you would think a 2 year old dog would be. I would never have any problem with adopting an older dog maybe in the future but this is my first dog adopted alone and I went in there thinking she was around that age. I also don't think it's fair because I payed above $500 dollars for my dog. I took her to the vet and she is having some issues and I am waiting for results this week. Now when you adopt or buy a dog I know its your full responsibility to care for that dog and any dog could develop issues but it is a known that the older the dog is the more likely health issues can occur. Even if she was 2 years old I know something could go wrong. But if she was actually 2 years old like they told me I could help prevent some health problems in the future just by diet, exercise, supplements, etc. I know I am saying a lot but I want people to understand where I am coming from and how someone could be somewhat distraught from this situation. It tried to gets answer out of them with the history of the dog(I know you don't always know the history of a shelter dog but this dog was a breeder dog) My experience with other shelters is they seem very open to let you know the information but with this place you have to pry to get the answers. I think something is not right with what is going on and I see good and bad reviews of the place on this website and others. I think if you have issues with this place you shouldn't just deal with it but try to understand what is going on. I tried searching for more information on this place or even try to find photos, but nothing extra is given and that could be for a reason.
