I went to AVF to look at a used Fusion. I had the financing lined out through my credit union with a great rate already, but they talked me into letting the finance manager run my credit to see if I may qualify for a special rate through Ford Credit on the certified used car. I agreed. The finance guy thought they could get it done through Ford, so I OK'd him to submit it. I didn't end up buying the car there (I decided that it wasn't a smart financial decision given what I was already driving.) In the few weeks since, I have received credit denial letters from at least 6 banks. I worked in the car business for almost 10 years, and I know the tricks. I am also protective of my credit rating since starting over a few years ago, and I am irritated that this dealer submitted my app to so many banks. I did appreciate the patience that the salesman showed as I visited the dealership three times, driving multiple vehicles, while trying to make the best decision for me.
