My husband and I rented this home for Christmas and had 11 members of our family come from California, New Mexico, and Louisiana to join us. This was our present to them and the first time we had seen eachother in quite a while. Our first problem was that the website states this home has beach and bay views, which is true. However, they fail to mention that right in the middle of these views is a HUGE Bright Blue water tower with a big Bright Yellow Tower operating house. It was such a distraction that every single member of my family made mention of it throughout our stay.It was a major disappointment for all of us. The manager had no other homes available and stated that we needed to fill out a refund request form upon departure. She also told us that this is second level housing and we were lucky to even be able to see the beach. She made me feel as if I had spent more money on a front row home I would have had a better view. Trust me this was a Christmas reunion of sorts and WE WOULD HAVE SPENT AS MUCH NECESSARY TO HAVE A BEAUTIFUL VIEW! Ms. Martinez also stated that nowhere on the website does it state ""unobstructed"" view. So beware with this agency. If it states beach and bay views without stating ""unobstructed"" you may have a huge undesired eye sore to look at for your vacation. Our second problem was SPIDER INFESTATION. The bottom nook with a queen size futon was completely covered in egg sacks, new baby spiders, and numerous other huge black widow looking spiders. They state that they exterminate after each rental and that they have routine exterminations. This may be true, but not for this home. The infestation could not have happened over night or even after several weeks. This was an issue that would have taken months. It was awful. We had to place my 56yr old overweight mother in the bunk room on a small twin bunk to sleep on for 4 days.WOW! We felt terrible for her and were so embarrassed. The manager stated they could have sent an exterminator to take care of the problem. However, this would not have been an option. I have a 2 year old daughter and there was a small dog in the house.There's no way we would have allowed chemicals sprayed while we were occupying the home. Even if we would have let them spray it would have taken several days for the chemical odor to disappear and we wouldn't have been able to place a human being down there to sleep. This should have been taken care of BEFORE we ever arrived. The third issue was the pots and pans. They were so scratched and warped. We had to cook for 11 people everyday and also make a nice Christmas dinner. Everything we put together and placed in the oven wound up burnt on bottom because the pans were so defective. It made preparing food a headache. These pots and pans were so terrible they wouldnt have even be able to give them away! I called management upon arrival about the obtruction of view. They clearly stated that no other home was available and to fill out a refund request form. I did exactly as I was instructed but only recieved $100 back after paying $1600.00.Thats not even 5% of what we payed. An apology would have been wonderful, a discount on a future rental would have been nice, perhaps even vouchers for a few meals in Galveston would have been great, or even as much as a 25% refund would have made us feel like we were treated fairly.They said it was because I did not call about each issue. I told them I had already talked to management upon arrival and was told to fill out the refund form. They will say anything to make sure you are the one ""at fault"" and treat you so insincere and inpersonal. My family was just another number to them. Terrible customer service. This wasn't a purchase from wal-mart. It was an expensive vacation for a family holiday and should have been treated with more tact. I had hoped to try and make this a family tradition but after this terrible experience i'm afraid that's out of the question.
