Response to ""The Worst Rip-Off"" 1/2/2012

I am speaking on behalf of my father Aram Dovlatyan, the owner, and sole employee of Rockport Jewelers est. 1993. There are two sides to every story and I am here to tell his. It truly does dishearten me to see someone go out of their way to slander a man?s name, especially on false pretenses. This particular customer came to my father asking for him to appraise 24 pieces of fine jewelry. These aren?t copies of paper at your local convenience store; appraisals are documents vital to the protection of a customer?s merchandise. The customer claims he is misled, misinformed; the only thing this customer is misinformed of is the appraisal process. Every single precious stone must be weighed, measured, tested for color. Every piece of metal must be polished, verified for purity and karat. The labor process is a long and strenuous one. For this, my father charges under $100 PER APPRAISED ITEM. The customer claims my father does not care at all, ask anyone who knows my father, even slightly, and they will tell you just the opposite. My father is a caring man, and above all a fair man. He understands a person?s circumstance and is always willing to come down to a price both the customer and himself can agree on. Of course this is not mentioned in the complaint. Of course, the customer fails to recall their negotiations with the price, which was VERY CLEARLY stated. It is a shame that the relationship between the customer and my father has gone sour; before this incident, he has come to my father with other repairs and purchases and left the store very satisfied. This customer is still more than welcome in my father?s store. A simple apology will let bygones be just that, bygones. more
