This breaks my heart. I love Kew Gardens but Bronstein really did its best to ruin my experience.
1.Can we say BUILDING WIDE INFESTATION.. I love how it's advertised that the exterminator comes twice a month, every month. This never happens. I had to type signs and hang them in the lobby, with threats of forming a tenants association and media attention in order to see an exterminator!
2.BROKEN EVERYTHING...I had repairs done twice..when I viewed the apartment before signing the lease and when i refused to pay 3 months rent (1405.25 a month) and filed a complaint with the courts and city. The ""current"" property mgr actually came to confirm that repairs (paint and plaster bathroom walls/ceiling, replace tiles on walls and floors) were done. I was in shock. Sadly, the paint started to bubble and peel...tiles came loose...all within a week. I did not receive any further repairs...even after bringing my balance current.
3.Staff is quite rude on the phone but rather pleasant in person..
4.Alex, the superintendent, does what he can to assist the tenants, but his extortion practices regarding certain repairs leave a foul taste in the mouth. Ex: expecting me to pay him to unclog a toilet..etc..
5. How do you feel about brown, rusty, cold water at random times (without notice of repairs)...delicious huh...
6.RENT DEMAND notices on the 3rd of each month when my lease says Rent is due on by the 10th of each month.
The one true ""pro"" I can speak of is the consistent heat that was pumping though the apartment. We could walk around, scantly clad in the depths of winter.
I will make note that their treatment of my building appears to be consistent with the treatment of the majority of their properties. I do know of 2 that are well maintained. Strangely, the demographic of the building tenants look NOTHING like those living in the ""SLUM"" buildings.
Perhaps if I purchased fade cream and moved across Queens Blvd, away from..*cough cough* Hillside/Jamaica Ave, I'd have a better experience and review.
