Just putting this out there to advise people to get a second opinion before agreeing to expensive or invasive dental procedures. I have come to this conclusion based on my recent experience with Dr. Mahmoodian at Woodside Dental.
I went to Dr. Mahmoodian for an Invisalign consult. She told me, to my surprise, that I had cavities on 12 teeth and would require $3,000 worth of fillings, including a crown. I was shocked because I had just been to my regular dentist 3 months earlier for a cleaning and he told me I was cavity free. When I expressed my confusion as to how I could have developed 12 cavities over the past 3 months, Dr. Mahmoodian made me feel my dentist was incompetent and proceeded to show me ""spots"" on my x-rays that were areas of decay. She knew I didn't make a lot of money - I am a dance teacher with no insurance - and kept assuring me she would ""help me out"" and ""work with me"" so I would be able to pay for the $3,000 worth of dental work she told me I needed. The staff was very insistent about getting me to make an appointment right there to begin work on all my cavities, but I said I needed to figure out where I was going to get the money to pay for all this work and I would call them later.
