Advice From Another Small Business Owner. 9/5/2011

As a small businessman, I choose to do business with other local, small businesses. Recently, my 50 inch, Vizio, plasma, TV began having issues turning on and staying on. After looking through all the options in the YellowPages, I decided to go with a company that I am not familiar with but seemed to be a good company because they have been around for a while. After reading all the negative postings on various websites, I still chose the small, local company to look at my TV.. After speaking with them, they told me that the cost to look at my TV would be $80. They had my TV for over two weeks; each time I called them (the few times I got to actually speak with someone), they told me that they couldn't find anything wrong with it. Eventually, I picked up my TV, brought it home, and realized that they forgot to give me the power cord. I turned right around and went back, retrieved the cord, drove back home, carried my 150 lb. TV up the stairs, plugged it in, and it did EXACTLY the same thing it did before I took it to them. I asked myself, ""How can a company that has been in business so long, remain in business as long as they have with the quality of work that they have?"", but then I stopped myself and thought, ""If they charge everyone that walks through the door $80 for nothing-- that explains why they're still in business."" When I asked them about this, they responded that they will trade in my broken TV for a new, used one after they billed me for mine. *I SHOULD HAVE WENT TO BEST BUY* more
