Beware!!! Uncaring Management 8/13/2011

Unfortunately, I can't recommend this retirement facility to your loved ones. The management is, for lack of a better word.......""uncaring"" for the elderly. If they are ill, you are charged $3.00 for each meal to have a family member or friend bring it to you if you're unable to go to the dining room. I might add that the food is less than desireable. That's an additional $9.00 a day, and a very small 1 BR apt. @ a whopping $2300.00 a month. They will NOT go out of their way to help you. \r \r My parent just moved out, and there were bags of sand in plastic placed across the edge of the concrete with a wrought iron fence around the patio because obviously they didn't want to go the extra cost to keep water from coming in the apartment; very dangerous for an 89 yr. old person who is not stable anyway, and there was no way to get past them besides stepping over them or walking on them~~very dangerous when it rains, or when they water.\r \r When I went to return the keys the person on duty stated that we now have to do a walk-through. She looked in each and every cabinet, and then began to point out the NORMAL scrapes on the walls which needed to be painted anyway, and made a big issue about those. There were a couple of boards, about 4 flower pots that we didn't take, and some plastic sprigs of flowers. There was also a bird feeder on a shepherd's hook. She said I had to take or dispose of everything that wasn't there when my parent moved in. I asked if there was a disposal bin, and she told me there was one in the back, so I immediately took them there and threw them away. When I came back to the apartment, she had locked me out. My car was parked in the front of the building which is quite a distance, especially when I had been there all day helping to pack and move out. There was no way to get out except for the security gates, and luckily there was a car coming in, so I walked through those........otherwise I would have had to climb them or use the intercom for them to open. \r \r The carpeting was cheap and there was no pad underneath. Dark and uncomfortable apartment. The hallways, dining room and rest of the facility was very nice. \r \r There's much more I could share, however do your homework before considering this retirement facility.\r more
