BEFORE YOU DONATE ANYTHING HERE-READ THIS\r
For those of us who believe that we should donate our gently used goods to a thrift store so that others can can get some further use from these items and a worthy organization benefit, DO NOT BRING ANYTHING HERE. We brought boxes of great stuff from a huge neighborhood garage sale - pottery barn martini glasses, crate & barrel dishes, books. We filled the back of a big pick-up truck with stuff that had we been willing to stay open past noon on Saturday probably would have sold - all packed carefully so that the glasses wouldn't break, etc. Then we watched the 'workers' put boxes of books on top of new lamp shades, dump the glassware into bins, and generally destroy at least 50% of what we brought. If you wonder why their stuff is pretty meager inside, I think I know why - it is way more important to the workers to dump the donations into bins that they can move around with a forklift than to try to preserve anything in a saleable condition. Next time - Salvation Army, Barking Boutique, Open Hands, any of the number of worthy organizations in Santa Fe that may actually WANT your donations
