I went to Dr. Busdieker after I found him on my dental insurance website because I am new to the area. I made an appointment for a cleaning and x-ray. I have always had really good dental hygiene and have had great experiences with other dentists.
It started off okay, the receptionists are nice and welcoming. When I went back it started with the x-rays and then the cleaning; all of that went alright except the hygienist was far from gentle. She showed me pictures of my teeth and said, ""see these cracks and wear? That's from clenching and grinding your teeth."" I told her that I don't do that and she continued to say that I do and suggested that I buy a mouth guard.
The dentist came and looked at my teeth for maybe one minute told me that I needed a root canal on one of my teeth (I have no cavities or fillings so how I would have gotten an infection in my tooth is very questionable to me) he also suggested a mouth guard to wear at night from my ""grinding"" problem. They suggested I schedule the appointment for the root canal in their office straight away. I didn't.
I went to an endodontist (specialist for root canals and such) and he did tests on the tooth and an x-ray and said that there is absolutely no reason to do a root canal in a perfectly healthy tooth. He also told me that small cracks in the teeth are normal and that everyone has those so he doubts that I have a grinding/ clenching problem.
My personal opinion is that maybe Dr. Busdieker wanted the $$ attached to selling me a mouthguard and doing two procedures on a healthy tooth. I will never be seeing him again.
