There are savory pizzas and there are those you just eat! 8/6/2011

My ""Friday Night Men's Night Out"" group eats out every Friday night, so we have eaten at restaurants all over the upstate. So on occasion we need to have some pizza. The problem is choosing between the two types of pizzas, there are ""eating"" pizzas that you want to scarf, and ""tasting"" pizzas that you want to savor. When you want a great tasting pizza that you can savor, you go to a fancy, expensive pizza shop like Bertolo's. But when you just want to eat on the cheap, then Stevi B's, Little Caesars or Ci Ci's is your kinda place! And my group wanted to eat, so we headed to Pizza Inn.\r \r Buffet or not, we are always prepared to leave our waitress 30%, and our young twenty something waitress was awesome. In fact the Inn was filled with 20 something waitresses. I can't recall a better looking staff in any restaurant that I have ever been in. But such things don't interest me; I like great service, and our waitress gladly took several special pizza orders and made the experience enjoyable.\r \r But the food on the buffet was another story. While the salad section was fresh, and well stocked, the pasta section was inedible, and I don't go to pizza shops for salad. So I requested new spaghetti be placed on the buffet and when the pasta arrived I found the meat sauce to be horrid, with an unusual smell of oyster sauce, very strange! And the sauce was completely lifeless. Ragu would have been a better choice! Seriously, how hard is it to make good spaghetti? But let's get back to the reason we went the Pizza Inn, the pizza.\r \r There was a very meager crowd of customers so the pizzas that were out on the buffet looked way too old. So we ordered special pizza to our liking, and that was the trick. Soon there were steaming hot, thick crust pizzas loaded with all our favorite ingredients sitting all over our table. The pizzas we ordered we magnitudes better than what sat on the buffet. So if you want to get the best that Pizza Inn has to offer, order the buffet and then special order the pizzas you actual want, you will be glad you did. For an ""eating"" pizza shop, Pizza Inn shines against those other budget pizza shops. more
