discrimination against people with service dogs! 8/21/2011

Went to Pozole's on a Sunday night at 9:30p. I have an ADA protected disability and use a qualified service dog with proper display (service vest and leashed) with excellent behavior. I was told I could not bring the service dog into the restaraunt. I explained that she was a service dog and not a pet. I was told she was not welcomed. I explained that she was a qualitfied service dog and they couldn't dicriminate against me. To top it off, he asked if I was training or was she actually doing something for me. I told him yes, she was my dog. It was incredibly humiliating and the first time in 2 yrs of living in Atl that I was embarrased and made to feel like an outsider. I should have left but really wanted to try the food. The server (same guy who told me I wasnt welcomed with my service dog) apologized and said he had never actually had a service dog in the restaraunt before. Unbelievable. Really? In a city as big and diverse as Atl. But it didnt seem to end there. I am hearing impaired. He would walk up behind me and speak to me and make it virtually impossible to read his lips or understand what he was saying. I dont know if this was intentional or not but once again, I felt like he was trying to make me as uncomfortable as possible. It worked. Won't go back. I wonder if he would treat someone in a wheelchair or who was blind the same way. Would expect more from a ""friendly"" neighborhood restaraunt. Food and margarita was good but I hope you'll conside the way this restaraunt treats people with disabilities. Shameful. more
