My wife and I went to Miyo's after reading all of the rave reviews (e.g., ""Best of Columbia"", etc.). We went in not expecting authentic Chinese (we both have lived in China for an extended period of time), but perhaps something PF Chang-ish. I have to say, next to this place, PF Chang looks like a 5 star restaurant.
First, we ordered a beef satay and vegetarian egg rolls for appetizers. The satay was hard and chewy with practically no taste. The egg rolls actually tasted worse than egg rolls we have had from a local Chinese buffet!
The appetizers were bad, but we were still hopeful that the entrees would live up to the hype. Nope...not at all. I ordered the General Tso's chicken (a dish that is almost impossible to screw up) and my wife ordered the Kung Pao chicken. We have ordered these dishes at PF Changs and enjoyed them, so we were expecting something in the same ballpark from Miyos. The General Tso's was bland and I even tasted a couple pieces of bad chicken. I've had better General Tso's from generic Chinese take-out places. The Kung Pao chicken was even worse, as the peanuts were completely rotten! They tasted like they were around a year old and the dish was LOADED with peanuts. Peanuts notwithstanding, the chicken itself was also pretty gross. My wife went to work picking out the peanuts (they ended up filling up almost a whole rice bowl) and a waitress stopped by. We explained to her that the peanuts were rotten and all she did was bring us to-go boxes! I was a waiter during college and if I saw a customer picking through the dish and heard them complain that the dish was bad, I would have automatically removed the dish and ask what I could do to fix the problem. The waitress did nothing to address the problem and we ended up paying for all the dishes. I didn't want to be a douchebag customer and demand the dish be removed from the bill...but perhaps I should have.
In short, we are never coming back to this restaurant. Don't believe everything you read about this place!
