finally, i found a place that offers more than treadmills and dumbbells. i scoured the internet in search of a gym that i could feel comfortable enough to expose all my insecurities and shortcomings. luna is that and so much more.
i joined about 4 weeks ago & can't believe how warm, supportive and down-to-earth the staff is (or when that became a surprising characteristic for a gym). i was lucky enough to be shown around by SUE, who has more energy & fun per square inch than most people i know. my trainer, ALIX, has been incredibly kind, encouraging and patient with me while i work through not just weight loss, but the psychological reconstruction of my self-image. SKYE, the boss lady, made sure to do amazing stretch-therapy work on me & helped remind me that everyone has their weaknesses to work on. immediately i was drawn to SAM (the massage therapist), joining the team behind the desk occasionally. her sense of humor, compassion and acceptance helped me feel very welcomed and at ease. sam's massages.... are other-worldly. this coming from a self-reported 'massage-snob' who's paid untold hundreds over the years... definitely worth your time to get on her table & transcend into a higher-level of relaxation. ;)
if you have ever wondered about a women's gym being the right place for you... all i can say is that, as important as the physical fitness aspect is, the warmth and sense of community at luna is truly what keeps me coming back. i can find a room full of gym equipment just about anywhere. but those women, and the concept of their gym -- you may not find a better place to let down your guard and do the dirty work of self-improvement than at LUNA FITNESS.
