I have been training here at ASMA for longer than I've ever stuck with any sort of fitness class. I will admit I originally joined because I wanted to lose weight/be fit and I had just seen a cool kung fu movie at the Arclight the night before which brought back all my memories of admiring martial artists and wanting to be one. However, it has become so much more than fitness. I'm a woman in her 20s who tried a lot of different ways of exercising but could never stick with it. The amazing thing is once I started training kung fu and realizing that fitness is about wholeness, I understood that this art form would nourish my mind, body and soul. You will get in shape for sure, but your life will change for the better in numerous other ways too! The instructors and Grand Masters are amazing the way they share this wealth of knowledge of an ancient tradition and care about each student. It's a very friendly atmosphere for women which is what I specifically was looking for in a martial arts school.
