Poor Business Practices 7/30/2011

I finally felt it was time to write a review about the extremely poor business practices at Sherry Goldstein's Yoga Sanctuary. I've been going to this studio every since I came to Las Vegas - over a year ago. I have a consistent yoga practice and I searched the Las Vegas community for the studio with the highest quality teachers and largest class schedule. I found the Yoga Sanctuary through the internet and it also happens to be close to my home. On several occasions I've had issues with a particular front desk person. First, I brought a $100 bill to pay for my class package and she gave me a tremendous hassle about it. I couldn't figure out why you can use this bill everywhere else in town but not at the yoga studio. They can't seem to find a method to check the bills with. How about writing the person's name & drivers license number on the bill and if it comes back you have all of their personal I.D. to contact them or the police?? Sounds simple... Next I came to class and waited for the teacher to show up. We were told she went to the wrong studio and was on her way. It would be 20 minutes. I waited 35 minutes and finally left. My time is limited and I felt like they should compensate me and the other students with a free class. There wasn't even an ""I'm sorry"". Today I went to pay for a ""drop in"" which is $17 and the same front desk person with the $100 bill issue told me that it had been determined that I live out of state and I would have to pay $20 for class. The owner was standing behind the desk when I explained that I live 1/2 time in Vegas and 1/2 time in California. She explained to me that they have to be ""consistent"". I'm not sure where I've been inconsistent, but I chose to leave and I will not be returning. It's a shame that this yoga studio has such ""unyogic"" business practices. I owned a yoga studio in California for 10 years. We had a great reputation and we treated our customers like gold. We felt that our studio was a service to the community and should reflect the philosophy of joining the mind, body and spirit. It was our goal to ""be the change we wanted to see in the world"" (Gandhi). It's time for Las Vegas yoga students to realize that this is not the way a studio should be run. It's time for a new studio to be created where teachers & students feel a sense of peace and harmony and are treated with the utmost respect and kindness. It's sad to see people attend a studio just because there is no other competition. The good thing is that everything changes and this will too! more
