I am increasing my rating based on the response by the owner; to clarify that all of the staff was courteous and helpful, with the exception of the owner during checkout; And the fact I should have contacted the business when the machine I rented started acting up. I rented a trenching machine. Over the past decade I had rented the exact same model without any problems from Home Depot, but thought I would try this close location and establish a relationship with a locally owned business. I rented the machine for 4 hours on a Sunday, the last 4 hours they were open. Retrospectively a mistake. I had about an hour of work. About a third of the way into the project the machine started intermittently and randomly shutting off. The motor restarted most of the time with 1-4 pulls. This wasn't user error, the machine was acting up. One hour turned into three in 90 degree heat. I pressed on to finish the job, which had to be done that day. I returned the machine on time prior to the close of business. I could have called All Star to come and investigate, but every restart got me closer to the end of the project. I didn't want the machine picked up, only to go through another rental on another day, or have to return the unit on a workday. On return to All Star I respectfully asked the owner for a discount on the rental or for a discount on my next rental based on all the trouble I had with the machine. I did not ask for a free rental. With instant attitude, I was asked ""why would I do that?"" ""You had the machine for the time allotted didn't you? You finished your project didn't you?"" Right questions, poor delivery. Customer relations fell apart at this point, to say the least. I asked him if he thought I was lying, or if customer satisfaction and return business meant anything to him. I was immediately informed that ""this conversation is over, leave now, get out of my business"" and was escorted to my car repeated told to ""get out."" It seemed well rehearsed, an I doubt I'm the first guy to object to the outcome on an interaction with him. Any other staff could have handled it better. So if you don't mind being treated like a piece of meat with a credit card, then go ahead and rent from this guy. I'm done. What a mistake and what a shame as it started out really well. Since my experience I started asking neighbors and coworkers if then had any knowledge of this renter. I have found similar problems in service and satisfaction. This is not ""made up"". Ask around, search the web. If location is key, know the policy and procedure before you sign! You be the judge, but I'm done. more
