Decided to dine here as a Pre-Oscar celebration - and what a gorgeous place it was! Upscale tropical elegance - white plantation shutters, fireplace, dark wood floors. Ask for one of the booths for added privacy.
Impressive & extensive wine list - but if you plan to really enjoy yourself in this area then you should look into becoming a member. Substantial savings per bottle of wine.
Good selection of appetizers/salads/pizzas/burgers/main courses. Some unusual pairings of ingredients - good if you are a foodie. Not so good if you are only interested in regular fare.
I normally don't eat bread - but I was a huge fan of their focaccia that came as soon as we were seated. Goonie-goonie... was heavenly. Had to stop eating them if we were going to enjoy the rest of our meal.
Had the Ahi Tuna Stack - and although this is pretty common at any Asian-Hawaiian fusion restaurant, I did notice that they marinated their ahi alittle more than other places... and mixed up the textures/tastes of creamy (avocado), crunchy (red onion), salty (ahi), sweet (mango) and tart (pineapple). Yummy.
Tried Judy's Apple Salad - since I always have my salads dry, this was suggested as the best option. Very good. Candied walnuts are like dessert. Alittle heavy on the blue cheese, though. And could have had more substantial lettuce variety to suport the thinly sliced apples. Oh - and it was sans dried cherries. Bummers. I hear the dressing is fabulous. Took 2/3 of salad home to save room for entree.
Was very excited about the Miso Glazed Alaskan Halibut - portion of halibut is impressive. Should serve with wasabi mashed potatoes instead of hash... and skip the bacon bits which didn't add anything to the dish. And perhaps a small portion of extra miso sauce for the fish. Took 2/3 of the fish home.
Great date-night place. Bar/lounge on bottom floor is also very nice. And cannot wait for the weather to warm up as the patio seating looks like a lot of fun - perfect for HH.
