Boycott Jewel-Osco 6/15/2011

Below is a letter submitted to Jewel-Osco regarding the terrible treatment of a young couple. ""So apparently Jewel Osco treats any young looking adult like a criminal. Thank you. I thank you because you have shown me an experience that I can share with the world. Despite the Village of South Elgin screwing your shopping center out of a proper entrance off of Stearns road, we still make a point to shop at your store, simply out of respect for having to deal with that issue. In fact, my girlfriend and I would shop at Jewel Osco over everyone else in our area. We frequently purchased our household items, food items, and on an occasion, our alcohol. We were a customer there at least once a week. And now after we thought we had established relationships with most employees, we get treated like criminals. Our IDS have been checked numerous times, never with a problem. We gladly handed them over, and awaited the approval out of respect for this pathetic society that has been developed by companies and politicians like you. One ID is a Minnesota license, so the book is always checked. Guess what?it was always approved. Today is my birthday. I?m 28, for information sake, my girlfriend is 24. Today we stopped in to buy a few items for tonight as well as a pack of beer to celebrate. Today we handed our IDS over and they were checked as usual. Except this time it took much longer. Our cashier comes back and denies our purchase. I said I do not accept that and I want the manager to approve this. The ever so insulting profiling Osco manager comes over and immediately denies the purchase as well as claiming the ID is a fake because the book shows a certain part is green, but the ID is more of a bluish tint. I have documents printed every day, perhaps the printer used by the company who supplies your ID books had a shift in ink?an issue I am very familiar with. I said call the police. They refused, so I did. The Police Officer shows up, knows instantly the ID is real, and explains that to your pathetic excuse for a manager. He even goes as far to have dispatch verify his ruling. They rule correct. He looks at the manager, I look at the manager, my father looks at the manager, and my girlfriend looks at the manager. She stands there quivering, knowing she is wrong and instead of respectfully accepting her incorrect judgment, she snarls and says, ?well, I stand by my decision? and begins to sneak away. Even the Officer shook his head. Let me tell you, I feel so thrilled to have this experience, especially on my birthday because I am now so incredibly pissed off that I will now share this uplifting experience to every Facebook friend I have, every Twitter follower I have, Every blog writer I know, and guess what, I build websites for a living?I?m going to make one just for you. I might even throw in a video production dedicated to Jewel Osco and place it on Youtube and Vimeo. I wonder if CBS, NBC, ABC, WGN and FOX would be interested in this. I?ll be sending this to them as well. Jewel Osco treats the young in a way that is so uncomfortable, so judgmental, and now, criminal. If you are so damn afraid to sell alcohol to a minor, then DON?T SELL ANY?.PERIOD. Companies like yours make the society we live in today so incredibly difficult to have a decent experience as a young adult. I don?t blame Gen Y for your inexcusable rules; I blame your pathetic way of life. Profits and rules?welcome to Jewel/Osco."" more
