I contacted Home Depot and they sent Sawyer Heating and Air. I had contacted two other contractors about the furnace issue before Sawyer came to give me an estimate. After I heard the estimate, I knew I wasn't going to go through them. Their price was double the price of the other contractors. When I told him I was planning on replacing it in the beginning of June he said he would have to double the price he just quoted me at. I couldn't believe it. He also didn't like how I wanted to talk with my husband first about it either. He wanted an answer right then and there. That was also a red flag. He kept saying I wouldn't be able to get a better deal anywhere else, but I knew that wasn't true. He also wanted to add on $700 of extra charges. Two of them was the permit and the testing. I was told by another contractor that the permit and testing should be included in the price. The next day I had another contractor come out to give me an estimate. They were also half the price of Sawyer. The quote he gave me included the permit and testing. The furnace this contractor gave us was a Rheem. They also replaced some of my ducts and they were still cheaper than Sawyer. According to the consumer reports Rheem is one of the best. I am glad I didn't go with Sawyer and I did my shopping first.
