Count me in as a skeptic when my sister, a Memphis resident, suggested my stay should include a stop at Gibsons for a morning doughnut. A veteran of many gourmet specialty shops as well as the usual chain outlets and Mom and Pop joints, I was expecting more of what I had tried dozens of times before. Wrong!
The chocolate yeast donuts were the best I have ever had. The doughnut itself was flaky, soft, and absolutely delicious. Their chocolate icing was mouth-watering without the excessive sweetness added by most bakers.
Ignore the building and try the doughnuts-they are awesome!
